On Sunday 28th May at the Wormsley Cricket Ground, on the Getty Family Estate in Buckinghamshire, there will be a charity Twenty20 to raise funds for the Uganda Children’s Trust Fund (www.uctf.org). A team of cricketing stars will play under the leadership of a Lashings XI side against a UCTF Ugandan XI side. Players include: Gordon Greenidge, Monty Panesar, John Emburey & Tino Best to name a few with commentary from Daniel Norcross, Test Match Special commentator. The Uganda Children Trust Fund offers underprivileged Ugandan children the chance to succeed in education, in sport and in life. We believe the combination of a good academic education, the opportunity to play and enjoy sport, and the chance to develop the right vocational or entrepreneurial skills will provide vulnerable children from Uganda’s poorest communities the chance to succeed in life. Their future economic security will provide a means to lift their families and communities out of poverty, thus creating positive, and long-lasting, social change. In turn, the creation of equal opportunities for Uganda’s most marginalised and vulnerable youth will foster the development of Uganda as an economically independent, culturally prosperous and meritocratic African nation.

As well as the cricket there will be lots of fun for the kids- coaching in the nets from pros, face painting, and Bat Fast.

Hospitality tickets (£65) include: tea and coffee on arrival, a delectable informal BBQ lunch with wine and an afternoon tea. VIP tickets (£100) will also include a Pimms reception and access to the Walled Gardens and Library at the estate. Hospitality and VIP tickets ensure access to participate in the charity auction and parking on site.

To raise further funds, the UCTF will be auctioning off playing places in each team in the morning and afternoon matches and an opportunity to become a Lashings ‘Star’ for the day.

Please contact hannah@uctf.org for more details.

UCTF will also be hosting an auction on the day; prizes include a signed England shirt from Zafar Ansari, a 2 hour coaching session with Sam Billings at Lords, a case of Chateau Palmer (2009) (1 case of 6 Magnums) and a Tiger Moth Flight.

There will be a cash bar on site for hospitality guests.

The match promises to be a great occasion, raising significant funds towards the charities target. The charity aims to fundraise a target of £300,000 in 2017. The hope is that this all-star game will bring the charity closer to its target.
